Baseball historians across the country are in wide agreement that the worst trade ever made was when the Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees for the sum of $100,000.
Well, if that trade gave rise to the “Curse of the Bambino,” we shudder to think what Joe Biden’s trade of Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, aka “The Merchant of Death,” in return for the WNBA’s Brittney Griner will yield.
Any reasonable person will agree that Griner’s sentence in Russia was ridiculous and she was being used as a political pawn by Vladimir Putin. But leaving behind Paul Whelan, a former United States Marine, to rot in Putin’s cages is inexcusable. Biden released a dangerous criminal who vows to kill Americans in return for a professional athlete who admitted to committing a crime while traveling abroad.
