If you’re like me, you’d like to believe that 99.99% of Americans can agree on some fundamental truths. Simple things, like the joy felt when a newborn giggles for the first time, the comfort felt when sipping a warm bowl of soup on a cold winter’s night, and that an accused gunman who opens fire on a public servant deserves to await trial without bail. Well, apparently, the Louisville, KY chapter of Black Lives Matter (BLM) organization begs to differ on that last thing.
This past week, the Louisville chapter of BLM actually posted a $100,000 bail bond in order to free Quintez Brown who was being held for the attempted murder of Craig Greenburg, a Democrat candidate for Mayor of Louisville. Brown, ironically, is an outspoken advocate for gun control. He is currently out on the streets with whereabouts unknown.
Are BLM donors aware of this use of their funds? Even if donations were earmarked for bail assistance, was the intent to cover bail for would-be murderers or, more likely, were they to help guarantee the free and unfettered right to peacefully protest?
The person who posted the BLM bail money to free Brown wore a “Free Angela Davis” t-shirt to the courthouse. Angela Davis was a well known Communist Party leader in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Enough said.
