Rep. Cori Bush: Sen. Manchin is “Anti-Black” Because He Dares to Question Biden Spending

November 1, 2021

One of the cornerstones of the progressive “squad,” Representative Cori Bush (D-MO), attacked West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin this week for seeking limits on President Biden’s spending priorities. “His unwillingness to support the legislation,” she argues, “is anti-Black, anti-child, anti-woman, and anti-immigrant.”

And here we were thinking that maybe he was just concerned with limitless federal spending, skyrocketing taxes, and the resulting impact on jobs, inflation, and the American economy. Silly us.

In all seriousness, crass politicians like Rep. Bush need to check their ego and start thinking of the well being of our nation first. Questioning the terms of a massive $1.75 trillion spending bill does not make one “anti-Black.” Baseless and bombastic name calling helps no one and discourages honest, well-meaning Americans from engaging in the process. That’s wrong – no matter what side of the aisle you’re on.
