There can be tough decisions in public life. And, when it comes to management of scarce medical resources to treat a deadly global virus, there will be many legitimate points of view.
Who jumps to the head of the line? Older Americans? Infected and symptomatic? Adults with comorbidity factors? All of these make sense, wouldn’t you agree?
The leaders of the Empire State, including New York’s progressive Governor Kathy Hochul, have a different approach. 80 years old? Who cares? On a ventilator? Oh well. High blood pressure and diabetic? Meh!
All Hochul and her NY leftist friends want to know is about your skin color. In announcing their distribution plans for monoclonal antibody treatment and antiviral medication they included a provision that establishes race as a “risk factor” because of “longstanding systemic health and social inequities.”
Have they gone absolutely mad? This is the very definition of racism. In fact, using the healthcare delivery system to favor one race over another is the very worst and most horrific kind of racism.
You shouldn’t have to be politically conservative to understand how dangerous this policy is.
