A recent article in Harpers Bazaar quotes the father of Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-IL) express thanks to her constituents for providing her gifts to help her “look her best” in Washington.
Her father continued, “people in the neighborhood now regularly drop off dresses, jewelry and shoes for her to wear in Washington. They say, ‘We want her to look her best.'”
Are you kidding me?
A watchdog group investigated the report and found that the Congresswoman has accepted an “outpouring of gifts from constituents, including jewelry and dresses.” If true, her acceptance of the gifts almost certain violates congressional gift rules and subject her to censure by Congress.
